If you have a flexible schedule, please consider joining us for one or both of the following events. You can register for these events when you complete you general conference registration. Please note that the Capitol Tour is limited to the first 24 people.

Tour of the Texas State Capitol - Friday Evening

Karen Neeley will lead a group on a tour of the historic Texas State Capitol. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 4pm and carpool to the Capitol. This tour is limited to the first 24 people to register for it - look out for a question on the online registration form.  

CROP Hunger Walk - Sunday Afternoon

Looking to make a difference in our local community and in communities worldwide, the Austin CROP Hunger Walk hopes to help end hunger and poverty through long-term sustainable approaches to significantly reduce or eliminate hunger. A portion of the funds raised here in will go to local hunger-alleviating agencies.

This year Austin and some 1,000 other communities nationwide are joining together in interfaith CROP Hunger Walks around the theme "Ending hunger one step at a time." Many of the Walkers will be wearing t-shirts proclaiming their solidarity with the millions of neighbors around the world who have to walk to live -- as well as with the millions served by local food pantries, food banks and meal sites here in the U.S. These local ministries share in the funds raised by CROP Hunger Walks.

From combating droughts in Nicaragua to providing agricultural training in Indonesia to stocking shelves in hundreds of food pantries across the United States, CROP Hunger Walks are fighting hunger. First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin will be participating on February 25th after church. The route is 2.4 miles long. Go here for more information: http://austincrophungerwalk.org/

If people sign up ahead of time, you are invited to have lunch after the church service. People will carpool from the church to the CropWalk and back -  to be arranged during lunch. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the church.

More Highlights and Activities

Hot Springs Trolley Tour

4:00pm Friday February 22

Only $18 for a 90 minute tour of the town during which you will learn about the springs, the bathhouses, the boyhood home of President Clinton, gangsters and much more. Get a bird's eye view of the town from the Summit. You will also receive a Historical Guide Book and a water bottle you can fill for yourself at one of Hot Springs' natural fill stations.

The trolley will pick you up at the Hotel Hot Springs. Trolleys are handicap accessible and fully air conditioned. Limited to the first 72 registrants. Please sign up and pay for this event when registering. 

Morning Yoga

Get up and get your body moving! At 7:00am Saturday and Sunday mornings, Roxy Westhues will lead a yoga session. Bring your own mat. Location to be announced at the conference.

Silent Auction

A Silent Auction will be conducted to raise additional scholarship funds. Items will be donated by UU Church of Hot Springs members and local business owners. Items will be displayed near the Raffle Prizes during the day on Saturday and in the dining room Saturday night. Winners will be announced sometime during the banquet dinner.

The Red Tent Room

Our annual tribute to female energy will be set up in a private parlor room. The Red Tent Room will be an active, yet relaxing place to go and recharge. This welcoming space is for sisters of all ages – maidens, mothers, and crones. The Red Tent Room will include healthy snacks and beverages, henna tattoos, coloring meditation, tarot readings, calming music, and other essentials to aid in peace and healing. Feel free to bring blankets, shawls, tarot cards, playing cards, games, and treats.

The Bazaar

Find a hand-crafted treasure at the conference Bazaar, where skilled artisans will offer a selection of unique items for sale. Everyone can enjoy shopping on Friday and Saturday between conference sessions. Each conference vendor has generously donated an item for the Raffle; by buying tickets for the prizes you want, you’ll help support the conference Scholarship Fund.

Fees and Deadlines

Registration fees are $190 for early registration before January 19 now extended through Monday, Jan. 22, and $225 after that.

Pre-registration closes on February 16. Registering later and on-site will only be possible if space is available.

The registration fee includes:

  • All conference sessions and materials, from Friday evening through Sunday morning 
  • Friday Movie Night: 
  • Saturday night entertainment with Kiya Heartwood
  • Saturday plated lunch
  • Saturday plated dinner
  • SWUUW annual $25 membership dues

Dinner with friends on Friday is on your own, in the hotel, or at one of the area’s many restaurants.
